Georgetown Prep Player's Camp
The Players Camp is designed to teach our young players the Georgetown Prep system. Unlike most summer camps, this is a teaching camp—sessions are designed exclusively to teach younger players the fundamentals. Sessions cover team concepts such as riding and clearing, face offs, extra man offense and half field defense. The drills and instruction will be the same ones used by the varsity. Last year the camp had the following coaches teach for a day. Coach Ricky Sowell (USNA Coach), Coach John Tillman (Maryland), Coach Kevin Warne (Georgetown), and Coach Dave Metzbower (Loyola University Asst. Coach) all participated at the camp.
The Players Camp is open to Georgetown Prep students ONLY. Campers must be rising freshmen through seniors. The varsity coaches make up the camp staff and individual instruction will be provided by former Prep players. We have intentionally moved the camp to the beginning of the summer so that our players will be able to make use of their new skills at tournaments throughout the summer. We have also tried to keep the costs down. The $250 includes a practice penny, pair of game shorts, five days of instruction and a one day tournament on Saturday. We will be holding the camp at Georgetown Prep where we will have access to the classrooms, indoor facilities and video equipment. The pool will be available between and after sessions. Lunch will not be provided but the older boys may leave campus between the morning and afternoon session. Boys in summer school may sign up for the morning or afternoon session only. |
